Byron Stinson of Yonkers has been arraigned and charged with first-degree manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, for his role in the fatal stabbing of Yonkers resident Michael Federico, 42, in April.
Shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, officers from the Yonkers Police Department were dispatched to Vineyard Avenue, where there was a report of a man who was bleeding from his throat. Upon arrival at the scene, investigators found Federico with an apparent stab wound to the neck, police said.
Federico was treated at the scene, where he was pronounced dead, prompting an investigation.
The indictment alleges that Stinson was seated in the front seat of a 2003 Infiniti in a parking lot with Federico in the driver’s seat. The two allegedly got into an argument and Stinson stabbed him in the neck.
Police said that Stinson attempted to flee, but was quickly tracked down by investigators with the assistance of K9 units.
